“What does your perfect date night look like?”, we asked them in 2021 during their wedding prep.  “The perfect Milwaukee date night would include happy hour drinks followed by an interactive cooking class where we get to enjoy the delicious food afterwards.”

“How would you like to celebrate your first anniversary together?”, we asked them in 2023 as we prepped for their celebration session. “In our little kitchen, cooking together – a lifestyle date night session in Milwaukee WI!” 

Lady and the Tramp with homemade pasta was the vibe. 

A crusty loaf of warm, golden bread sat in the stream of sunshine pouring through the windows of their historic Milwaukee kitchen. The rays wrapped around the 12 shades of earth colored and speckled farm-fresh eggs, waiting to be cracked. A drool-worthy aroma of simmering garlic and artichokes filled with little kitchen. Twyla, their rescue pup, stood tall and proud on fallin crumb duty. 

Of course the BEST way to celebrate a lifestyle date night session in Milwaukee, WI is with homemade Old Fashioned drinks. Following the creaking wood floors to a cozy nook by the radiator, Joey and Anna muddled bitters and whisked up the sweet concoction. Blood oranges, of course, adding an extra bit of ruby toned zest to the sweet drink.

Milwaukee is a bustling city, but inside this quaint home, you’d never notice. The only way we marked time was the sun rays moving across the counter tops.

The business of pasta making is very hands on. They mixed those eggs into the sifted flour with gusto, the precious recipe book, Pasta Grannies, dappled with flour, lay propped open for reference. Joey thumbed through the book, sharing the nostalgic collection of recipes from Italian grandmas. 

An evening of cooking a new meal together is one of Anna and Joey’s most favorite and cherished activities. When it comes to lifestyle sessions, in-home is the most perfect fit because that’s where you hold the most memories. It’s about the beauty of the little moments that make up normal life, the nostalgia of the present mixing with the past, and all that experiences that make up your life together. 

A wedding is a big deal, yes. Of course you want your wedding memories captured. But what about the moments that make up the time in your life when your dog is your whole world, and your favorite part of the day is cuddling up on your second-hand furniture. Your wedding isn’t the same thing as your marriage. The belief that the celebration of your marriage should extend a lifetime, not just last a single day, is something we stand firm in.
