Wildcat Mountain State Park Wedding – Ontario, WI

Ontario, WI is a quiet nook of the state, untouched by time.

One summer evening, horse hooves clip clopping filled the humid summer air. Cicadas chirped and sunshine flittered through hazy clouds. In a little corner of Amish country, a camp themed intimate wedding in terracotta and marigold was taking place.

Zoe and Tyler got ready at the charming Lodge at Rustic Ridge Resort in Hillsboro, WI. The resort features an original 1890’s wedding chapel along with a rustic event hall filled with strung lights and a glittering chandelier. What truly drew the soon-to-be-newlyweds to this sweet venue is that they had the opportunity to make it a weekend event! The resort offers a overnight accommodations with an inn, motel, and campsites! And the very best part? It was only 10 minutes from their Wildcat Mountain State Park wedding ceremony!

We drove winding roads and rolling green hills of western Wisconsin, up to the top of park. Sunshine speckled down through the pine needle treetops, leaves gently sway in the breeze. There, Zoe and Tyler shared their first dance. Rather than having all eyes on them during their reception, they chose to keep their dance intimate. Introverted couples- take note! Zoe pulled her phone out and hit play.The song? One that she wrote and recorded herself. As they danced and spun around the forrest trails, pine needles crunched under their feet.

Camp Themed Wedding

Summer camp was the theme. And could there possibly be a better place for a camp themed wedding then Wildcat Mountain State Park?!

Almost as a nod to Zoe and Tylers first meeting at summer camp, a bright blue bus filled with excited, cheering campers exclaimed congratulations to the groom as they continued to bump along the rocky dirt roads to their destination.

Close family and dear friends sat on long wooden benches, sloped downwards towards the dramatic ceremony overlook. The benches, a smidge to high for even the longest of legs, left guests feet dangling and tiptoed off the ground in almost a childhood reminiscent way. Guests laughter filled the air as the flower girl was carried down the aisle, bubble maker in tow.

Zoe’s unique embroidered wedding dress was everything she had wanted. The delicate purple flowers of her skirt swayed in the wind. The hand-stitched embroidery on Tylers’s tie matched Zoe’s gown perfectly, thanks to the wildly talented Sun Stitched!

Taco trucks, cat decor, and Star Wars themed table scapes were just a few of the personal touches that Zoe and Tyler had. Hammocking with cupcakes in hand was another.

Keeping with the camp theme, they had a stunning two-tier mountain and forest themed wedding cake. Lawn games sprawled across the lawn and over looked sloping farm fields. A s’mores station with custom signage stood ready for toasting!

Mexican food might just be the thing that Zoe and Tyler love most in the world (aside from their two kitties!), so OF COURSE that had to be a part of their most important day! Jose’s Authentic Mexican Food Truck knocked it out of the park with fresh fajitas and warmed tortillas for each and every guest. Murmurs of delight ran through the cheerful line of guests as they were handed their steaming containers of Mexican cuisine.

Inside the Tin Shed, each table held hot sauce (genius!!) and custom Star Wars planet table numbers.

Outside, a silo strung with twinkling lights shined light a beacon in the setting sun. Zoe and Tyler hopped into a hammock – “I’m never getting out of this.” But they did, because they they sat up to eat hammock cupcakes before running back up the hill to finish out the evening festivities.

Zoe and Tyler’s wedding day truly felt like the best day at camp you’ve ever had.
