And the next day Rob and Kate made their way back to that same secluded rocky outcrop. On the drizzly shores of Lake Michigan they had their first look.

They flew from Georgia for their destination wedding at Door County’s Gordon Lodge, so a little bit of rain had nothing on them! They embraced it in full.

Gordon Lodge Boathouse Wedding

Inside the cozy Top Deck Boathouse they married. Long farm style tables were set with white candelabras and family watched, teary-eyed, as Rob and Kate said their vows.

While the rain pattered on, the Top Deck Boathouse overflowed with a taco bar straight from heaven itself, laughter from the newlyweds, and a gleeful celebration by all.

Bright nautical meets historic, up-north Wisconsin is the perfect way to describe the Gordon Lodge esthetic. Kate and Rob brought their esthetic of laughter, tacos, and easy-going.

Kate and Rob’s Boathouse ceremony was a dreamy location for their romantic Door County micro wedding. A giant map of the Bay lines one shiplapped wall. Rustic wooden beams bring warmth to the white, bright space while oars and sailing equipment line bring charm to the walls.

Rain adds a feeling of comfort and cozy to a wedding day- this is something we stand firm in. Rob and Kate felt the same. Truthfully they didn’t blink twice about it. BUT they still came prepared. Umbrellas for everyone! When it comes to taking wedding party photos in the rain, we clear umbrellas. Here’s why- black umbrellas are chic, but they cut out A LOT of light.
